Martensville Youth Connection

Who we are and how we started

Martensville Youth Connection is a drop-in program dedicated to providing barrier-free mental health support to youth ages 10-18 around the Martensville community.

MYC started as at Clear-Cut Coffee House in the summer of 2021. We then expanded into Forged Gym; however, we quickly outgrew this space and are now mobile within the community of Martensville. We program at different locations throughout the community so make sure to follow us on social media to see where!

Holistic Wellness

Martensville is a voluntary program for youth to join where we provide mental health related education and partake in activities. The Program Material is selected and overseen by a Social Worker and delivered by trained and qualified counsellors. We begin programming with the educational portion. Education and discussions can include topics such as positive self-image, self talk, and self-esteem, triggers, self-harm, suicide intervention, bullying, mental health and addictions. MYC staff ensure they are aware of mental health and addiction resources available in the community for youth, should they need to access or be referred to these resources. After this, we have planned activities and time for youth to reach out for additional support if needed. MYC also provides snacks throughout programming as part of our holistic wellness approach.

Free Individual Counselling

  • Thanks to the Kinsmen Club of Martensville a Registered Social worker is available to provide one on one counselling for youth that don't have insurance coverage.
  • Contact Katie to inquire about accessing this counselling

Community Connections

  • Our staff will also complete recommendations or referrals to other agencies and resources as necessary, to further support the youths’ mental wellness and set them up for success. This could include: medical visit recommendations, mental health counselling, addiction treatment programs, or sports and athletic programs.
  • Leveraging our network in the business community, we will connect youth that show responsibility and readiness for the workforce with local businesses looking for student workers or volunteers.
  • MYC can offer volunteer hours to youth that help with tasks during programming or community events which looks great on resumes in the future.
