What is the family involvement?

The involvement and attitudes of family members and friends can significantly enhance the recovery process. Family members are encouraged to participate in the family group session once per week for 16 sessions. Addiction affects the whole family, Recovery must also.

The following is a quoted excerpt taken from the Guidance for Injectable Opioid Agonist Treatment for opioid use disorder by the BC Center on Substance Use “This document emphasizes the important role of families as partners in patient care when appropriate, and recommends the inclusion of family members in decision-making processes and care at all levels when deemed appropriate by the adult patient and their care team. Patients should not be pressured to include family members and should be given full discretion on the decision to include family, if at all.

If the patient determines family involvement would be a positive element in their treatment plan, care providers are encouraged to educate family members about available options and resources and provide as much patient- specific information as possible. In the context of this document, the term ‘family’ encompasses all relations that are important to the patient, including significant others who are not legally recognized as family.” Source – BC-iOAT-Guidelines

At Possibilities Recovery Center we believe this to be true also, and will incorporate family as much as possible by adhering to the Saskatchewan Health Protect Information Act.

Is this a gender specific center?

No, our main program takes a gender neutral stance and is proven to work for all genders, races, sexual orientation, culture or demographic. However, we recognize that there are specific gender, cultural, demographic or psycho-graphic issues involved with addiction and our programs have the option to add specific counseling if it is found to be beneficial to the community or demographic being served.
