PYC Youth Program

PYC is kept free to access for youth thanks to:

Possibilities Youth Connection (PYC)

Who we are and how we started

Possibilities Youth Connection (PYC) is a drop-in program dedicated to providing barrier-free mental health support to youth ages 10-17 around the Martensville community.

MYC started as at Clear-Cut Coffee House in the summer of 2021. We then expanded into Forged Gym; however, we quickly outgrew this space and are now mobile within the community of Martensville. We program at different locations throughout the community so make sure to follow us on social media to see where!

Who we are and how we started

Possibilities Youth Connection is a drop-in program dedicated to providing barrier-free mental health support to youth ages 10-17 years old around the Martensville, Warman and Hampton Village communities. PYC offers evening drop-in support for youth during the week on mental health and addiction education and programming. The group offers education and skill-building opportunities for youth. Topics covered include areas such as mental health, addictions, coping skills, employment readiness, resume writing, and more.

Possibilities Youth Connection aims to accomplish several key objectives:

1. Provide accessible mental health support: By offering barrier-free mental health services, we aim to ensure that youth in Martensville and surrounding areas have access to the support they need, regardless of financial or geographical limitations.

2. Foster positive youth development: Through our programs and initiatives, we strive to promote positive youth development by offering educational sessions, discussions, and activities aimed at building life skills, resilience, and self-esteem.

3. Build a sense of community: We seek to create a supportive and inclusive community where youth feel valued, heard, and supported. By offering a safe space for youth to connect, share experiences, and build relationships, we aim to reduce feelings of isolation and promote a sense of belonging.

4. Empower youth voice and agency: We believe in the importance of amplifying youth voices and empowering them to take an active role in shaping their own lives and communities. Through our programs, we provide opportunities for youth to engage in decision-making processes and advocate for issues that matter to them.

5. Collaborate with community partners: We recognize the importance of collaboration and partnership in achieving our goals. By working closely with other organizations, schools, and community stakeholders, we aim to maximize our impact and reach more youth in need of support.

Community Connections

    • Our staff will also complete recommendations or referrals to other agencies and resources as necessary, to further support the youths’ mental wellness and set them up for success. This could include: medical visit recommendations, mental health counselling, addiction treatment programs, or sports and athletic programs.
    • Leveraging our network in the business community, we will connect youth that show responsibility and readiness for the workforce with local businesses looking for student workers or volunteers.
    • MYC can offer volunteer hours to youth that help with tasks during programming or community events which looks great on resumes in the future.
